More Venice Beach Goodness with Gary LaVard

Lifestyle photography is a kind of photography which mainly aims to capture portraits of people in situations. What better place to do that then Venice Beach! We are huge fans of Venice Beach- as you can tell since we shoot there so often.

We met up with Gary, who is originally from Detroit. A super nice and talented dude. He's been busy filming Besties, which will soon be on Netflix. Some of his past work includes About Him and Products of the American Ghetto. It's no surprise Gary is going places.

In the backyard in Long Beach

Today we shot with Jess, Sami and Joanka in the backyard.  It had a chill and casual Coachella vibe, and we all had a great time relaxing in our Longbeach backyard as the sun was going down.

Chilling with Eric in Venice Beach

To document true lifestyle photography, it is to capture those harmonious moments and the in-between moments of the subject in front of you. Acid jeans. Eric can pull them off- I wish I could do the same. We spent sometime over on the Muscle Beach side of Venice beach. I dig all of the concrete there have in that area- It's literally like a body builder's playground.

Venice Beach Workout with Gary LaVard

California sun is a thing of beauty. Especially when we went out for a lifestyle photography session with Gary. Couple that amazing light with the character of Venice Beach and magic happens.

I wish I looked this happy when I worked out.  Gary is awesome to work with. He's relaxed, easy going and a happy guy.  He even rocked out some yoga man pants while looking awesome.

Lifestyle Photography Session: Venice Beach with Eric

Lifestyle photography is one of the most authentic forms of capturing a moment, next to photojournalism – we like to have a sense of care-free and rawness can seep through and show the view authentic moments of happenings and interaction. It’s a very delicate balance between having a model pose and having a model interact. While we were in Venice, we met up with Eric. Eric was great to hang out with for the day and he knows how to bring energy to a shoot.
